To better respond to the population’s demand, Flandra Labs has selected and conducted the market in one of the most affected groups, the small local business in the Ontario region. The following is the feedback we received this far.
In this part of the survey, we asked about the location and size of the survey. We found that 75% of businesses have more than 10 people in their company, and 50% of the small business located in the Toronto region. This means that most of the small businesses that responded to our survey are severely affected by COVID as the Toronto region just turned into Grey Zone and there are several restrictions on reopening businesses.
In the next part of the survey, we asked about the personal protection people are normally wearing and their thoughts on existing mask solutions. According to our survey, we found that people tend to use either surgical masks or cloth/reusable masks. N95 mask is also an option and people generally agree that N95 offers superior protection comparing the regular masks. However, people generally tend not to spend the extra money on N95 due to the high cost and uncomfortable wearing experience.
In the next part of the survey, we ask people the opinion on improving personal equipment. We found that there is a consensus from all survey-takers that they all would like to see their protective equipment being upgrade with little/no cost.
From our market survey, we found that a low-cost yet effective mask modifier could fit well in terms of population demand. At the current stage, Flandra Labs is working on developing the prototype of the mask modifier, the MorphMask device, which can fill in the gap for the current market.
